COMMISSIONING CEREMONY

The commissioning ceremony marks the transition from

construction to active service as a unit of the United States

Fleet. At the moment of hoisting the Commission Pennant,

the WITEK becomes the responsibility of her Commanding

Officer--- who, together with the officers and crew, then has

the duty of making her and keeping her constantly ready

for any active duty demanded by our country in war or in

peace.
